II. 2013 Project plan for Education and Science newspaper
The organization’s newsletter "Kyouiku Gakujyutsu Shinbun" (Weekly Education and Science Newspaper), which was first published on September 15, 1953, published a total of 2518 issues as of March 20, 2013.
This newspaper has played an important role as a standard-bearer of issues related to the freedom of education and research and university autonomy, is addition to establishing its foundation and current status as a newspaper specializing in the education, science, and technology of Japan.
The Association shall publicize the special capabilities of private universities, further enhance the education and research thereof, make efforts to have ample articles to establish proper awareness of private universities, and publish the Newspaper according to the following guidelines. The Newspaper shall also implement independent planning to enhance and develop the Association’s projects.

The Association shall post articles on the following topics to propagate knowledge to the society regarding the role of private universities and the necessity of promotion thereof: education and research related promotion issues, the various challenges faced in promoting research into education and learning, social contributions, management and administration, cooperation with associated organizations, international cooperation/exchange, science/technology, sports, culture, commentaries, book reviews, miscellaneous data, and school newsletters. |

Every Wednesday 10,500 copies will be published, 48 times annually (every 5th Wednesday will be a newspaper holiday.)
Paper size A2, 4-16 pages
The special issues will be published with features on topics such as: New Year's (New Year's round-table talk), special edition on the revitalization of regional small to medium-sized schools and related themes (implementation of special seminar), special edition related to spring and autumn general meetings and the Federation of Japanese Private Colleges and Universities Associations, draft report from the Central Education Conference, and guidelines for admission to private universities nationwide. |

-Information on measures and budgets of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and other ministries.

- Report and trend information from the Central Education Council.
- Critiques of higher education policies aimed at encouraging private universities .
-Investigation and research of the Promotion and Mutual Aid Corporation for Private Schools of Japan.
- Columns regarding the research results of the Research Institute for Independent Higher Education and the researchers thereof.
- Timely university initiatives, including regional partnerships, university reforms (particularly at regional small to medium-sized schools), university public relations and FD/SD .
- Other, including themes such as university characteristics as a kaleidoscope of campus life .

- Make a special edition focused on a vision for specific action plans related to the reports of the Federation of Japanese Private Colleges and Universities Associations, which is seeking to "build a paradigm shift in higher education" in line with changes in the make-up of society, and use and apply this in external relations. Also hold a "public relations staff conference" for public relations staff at member schools. |
